Ms. Ramona Alves (Co-founder, Secretary):
Ramona E. Alves was President and Chief Executive Officer of CHAT Communication
Services (CCS), a bootstrap business she founded in 1986. Ms. Alves grew CCS into
a full service Engineering, Procurement and Installation company for Broadband Telecom
reaching revenues in excess of $17.5 million with employees totaling over 150. During
its’ tenure, CCS earned yearly awards in QA and On-Time delivery with Pacific Bell
and SBC Telecom. She has been a member of various Public and Not for Profit Boards,
including the Marin County Affirmative Advisory Committee and Workforce Investment
Boards. Ms. Alves’ brings her expertise in Project/Operations and Procurement Management
to RAPT Industries at a critical time in its’ initial launch of RAPT’s commercial
tools.
Dr. Jeffrey Carr (Co-founder):
Dr. Carr is the inventor of the RAP process and a leading expert in the field of polishing
technology and plasma processing. A veteran of IBM, including 7 years in the Research Division
at Yorktown Heights, Dr. Carr joined LLNL - Engineering Directorate in 1997. He has
authored 22 technical reports and peer-reviewed papers on the subject of precision
machining, etching/polishing technologies and plasma chemistry. In 1998, Dr. Carr was
elected as Secretary for the Precision Engineering Society. His previous technical
accomplishments include the first IBM patent on copper chemical/mechanical polishing for
circuitry manufacturing.
Mr. Robert Colman:
Rob Colman is the President of Olympic Precision, Inc., based in Hanover, New Hampshire.
OPI engages in research and development of high precision equipment and manufacturing
technologies used by the Department of Defense and other government entities, and by
industrial providers. Mr. Colman has thirty years of diversified management and advisory
experience with major corporations and smaller entrepreneurial ventures. He founded and served
as Chairman/CEO of Oxford Energy Company, an American Stock Exchange Company. Under his
leadership, Oxford grew to $300 million in assets. Mr. Colman has structured and participated
in venturing arrangements with General Electric Company, Ogden Corporation, Haliburton Inc.,
Zurn Industries, Niagara Mohawk, Southwest Public Service and others.
Mr. Danforth Joslyn (Chairman):
Mr. Joslyn is a founding member of Optical Coating Laboratory, Inc. (OCLI), Santa Rosa, California.
The company, now a subsidiary of JDS Uniphase, specializes in precision optics and vacuum deposited
thin films. OCLI markets include communications, medical devices, security products and aerospace.
During his career at OCLI, Mr. Joslyn served as President and Chief Operations Officer, Director
and a member of the Executive Committee. Mr. Joslyn also served as CEO and President of Flex Products,
Inc., a subsidiary of OCLI. He organized and headed the European and Far Eastern Operations for OCLI.
During his career at OCLI, Mr. Joslyn focused his efforts on new business opportunities development
and operations. He was responsible for all licensing activities and negotiating major contracts,
including mergers and acquisitions. He also organized, implemented, and managed the intellectual
property program at OCLI and again at Flex products. Mr. Joslyn was also President of Applied Solar
Energy Corporation, a subsidiary of OCLI. Applied Solar Energy manufactured silicon and gallium
arsenide photovoltaic cells for space and terrestrial power generation applications. Mr. Joslyn
served as Director and CEO of four start-up companies, all of which were successful. Mr. Joslyn
brings many years of broad-based management experience to RAPT. Since OCLI, Mr. Joslyn has worked
exclusively with early stage companies. Mr. Joslyn holds a B.S. and a J.D. from George Washington
University.
